Independence (IBX) is looking for an experienced and analytically minded individual to support analytical requests for clinical initiatives and evaluations. This Senior Research Analyst position will report to the Director, Reporting and Analytics within the Informatics Department, supporting advanced analytics research to help drive improvements in members’ physical and behavioral health wellbeing. This role requires an advanced level of programming technical expertise, comfort and familiarity with medical claims and managed care systems, and data curiosity. This role will have the opportunity to interact with internal business stakeholders to help drive clinical outcomes.

Informatics is hiring a Senior Research Analyst with the following primary responsibilities:

·Conduct comprehensive research on healthcare industry trends and opportunities to inform analytic strategies

·Read, understand and update existing SQL code for regression testing, etc. to drive process improvements

·Provide end-to-end analytic support including, but not limited to writing queries, cleansing/manipulating data, interpreting and summarizing analytic results, developing presentations with clear and concise messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences to help drive effective decision-making

·Provide ad hoc reporting with the ability to provide useful analytical findings and results in a timely manner

·Become knowledgeable of health care insurance processes across all business areas that Informatics supports

Qualifications:

·Bachelor’s degree in business/health care analytics, statistics, or related quantitative area, plus 3+ years of hands-on experience in an analytical environment

·Advanced SQL and/or R programming skills with proven experience in data extraction from large, longitudinal databases, performing data transformation and cleansing and the ability to perform QA and data reasonability checks

·Experience with medical/RX claims, demographics, authorizations, lab results, provider databases, etc. in a big data environment

·Background in healthcare data strongly preferred, with familiarity with managed care organization and health insurance terminology (HCPCS, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, LOINC, DRG, etc.)

·Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, waterfall chart creation, complex formulas, etc.)

·Self-starter with strong data curiosity, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills to mine and analyze healthcare data to inform strategy and drive improvements in business solutions

·Statistics knowledge (e.g. familiarity with linear regression, logistic regression and matching) is preferred, but not strictly necessary

·Data visualization experience (Tableau, Looker Studio) is preferred, but not strictly necessary

Hybrid

Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
