MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of The University of Texas M. D. SUMMARY - Coordinates the bone marrow, peripheral stem cell and cord blood transplantation program for MDACC patients and unrelated donors.
- Performs searches for matched unrelated donors on national registries and maintains status reports working closely with the NMDP.
- Ensures financial clearance, schedule patient tests and reviews results, arranges admissions and keeps patients/families updated on donor searches and the overall transplant process.
- Arranges travel nationally and/or internationally as a courier for donor products.
- Collaborates with physician clinical teams, department management, data managers and research nurses to complete and document patient care.
- Maintains recipient and donor confidentiality. Responsible for collection and submission of charges for the search process.
- Works closely with the Cell Therapy Laboratory to facilitate the delivery and receipt of donor products.
- Educates patients and the general public regarding the search/transplant process.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a lab or human leukocyte antigen (HLA) experience. Patient Tracking While in training assist with scheduling patient tests, keeping patients/families updated on donor searches and test results, and arranges admissions. Administrative While in training assists in completing all required forms (patient updates, form 22, etc) in a timely manner. Also assists in maintaining patient/donor correspondence. Provides lab packs with courier information to SCT processing lab.

EducationRequired: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or other health care related field.
